Host-To-Host DebiCheck

Host-To-Host Overview

Overview

DebiCheck is a type of debit order that is confirmed by the customer with the bank, electronically and once off, before the creditor can process monthly debit orders.

The bank will therefore have a record of all DebiCheck mandates and will be able to verify the information before the debit order is processed to the debtor's account.

From the creditor's (Juristic) perspective, DebiCheck provides them with the ability to effect valid collections on client accounts with less chance of them returning as disputes.

Description

This service allows you to:

  • Initiate a mandate request for the debtor to accept (authenticate) so that a collection to the debtor can be processed.
  • Initiate an amendment to a registered mandate.
  • Request the cancellation of an active mandate and/or a mandate awaiting activation and/or a mandate amendment that is in progress.
  • Receive a mandate acceptance report that will inform you of the acceptance, rejection or expiry of the mandate registration request.
  • Receive a mandate status report that will inform you of the outcome of the Bank validations.
  • Process the collection of funds from the debtor's to the creditor's Bank account.

Important Update

Initial Status Report (ISR) Transaction Level Failure:

Certain transaction level failures can now be provided for upfront validations such as Check Digit Validation (CDV) validations in the Initial Response Report (ISR). If you opt-in for this functionality, the failed transactions will be reported in the ISR. If you do not opt-in for this functionality, the ISR remains the same and the failures will be reported in the Sponsoring Bank Status Report (SBSR) and Paying Bank Status Report (PBSR).

Auto-bump

When transactions are submitted by clients who have Auto-bump enabled on their profile, the action date of the transactions (whether future-dated or current-dated) are checked using the auto-bump functions to ensure that the action date is a processing day (not a Sunday or public holiday). If the action date is not a processing date or transactions have been received after cut-off time , and auto-bump is enabled, the action date is updated to the next processing day.

It is important to note that Auto-bump is dependent on Product rules and transactions might be disputable when auto-bump is activated.

Warehousing

When future dated transactions are submitted, the transaction will be held in the Warehouse until their action date is reached. On Action date, the transaction will be processed.

With DebiCheck Collections you can enable Auto-bumping as well as Warehousing of the collection

Response Options

Negative responses to the message files sent will always be sent.

You can opt-in or opt-out of the following message responses:

There are a few ways in which you can get the API.

  • Sponsoring Bank Status Report (SBSR), this response communicates the outcome of the Product or Industry validations
  • Paying Bank Status Report (PBSR), this report communicates the results of validations by the paying Bank

Both of these reports are free and should be opted into to maximise the benefits of DebiCheck.

File naming conventions

Fintegrate ™ follows a generic file naming convention to make easier to identify and correlate request and response files however you also have the ability to configure your own naming that works better with your system convention on both request and response files.
